How Galina processed her childhood traumas and became a beacon of hope for others

Before the full-scale war, I underwent surgery, which left me in a difficult physical and emotional state. Then the war began, stripping away any illusions I had about my family and close friends. My daughter left for abroad. I was devastated both morally and physically.

I therefore came to Children’s Mission training in a deeply depressed state, unsure where to go or what to do amid the war and the uncertainty I faced. Thankfully, during the training, I experienced a safe space for the first time in my life. After the first few sessions, I realized I could help others. I am now a wounded healer who helps children and others find healing.

Before the training at Children Mission, I believed there was nothing good in my childhood. During the sessions, my childhood memories surfaced! Yes, there was a lot of pain. However, with the trainers’ support, I dared to dive into my memories. In the sandbox, I shared my difficult childhood, and though it hurt, I also saw the good moments.

After the training, my fascination with psychology grew into a decision to pursue a university degree in clinical psychology and develop in this direction. This means everything to me – I’ve found my calling! I changed professions, something I had never thought possible. I’m healing myself and can help children and other adults to heal too! There are no bad people in life, only people who are hurting.
